What is Body Neutrality?

Updated: Nov 25, 2019

Body Positive or Body Neutral? Ever been insecure about your body type? Ever felt you couldn’t style a specific outfit? If yes, then why so? Why not positively accept what you’ve been gifted with? Don’t you all think that quietly trying to judge one and other can be time consuming? Well, trust us it does take up a lot of your time. Moreover, these judgmental thoughts can stop us from enjoying our present.

Whilst most of us think that being body positive or body neutral are the same things, they’re not! Body positivity is all about loving your body, whereas body neutrality is more about accepting your body the way it is and trying to make your peace with it! Well, what do you think is more achievable? The answer might be Body Neutrality! However, more than anything else, the prime objective should be to become healthy instead of worrying about one’s physical image or one's fashion choices.

Neutrality doesn’t necessarily mean that you cannot love your body, we all should love our bodies but at the same time we shouldn’t have the coercion to do so.

Let’s try breaking some stereotypes!

Despite the awareness on body neutrality/positivity, there is a lot of influence that speaks about how perfect bodies can be the only source to happiness, without us realising that everything we see is not raw, it is heavily edited before getting on the respective platforms and this leads to many of us wanting to be the models we see on social media or the magazines. Interestingly, some also believe that a revealing style or outfits can heavily contribute to this problem.

Believe it or not, the disappointment usually comes into place when we choose to wear revealing outfits when compared to a modest style. Modest clothing is not only worn because some men say so, or because some cultures say so, but also because it makes one feel extremely confident and elegant. Many of the first words that come in mind when we hear MODESTY are “traditionalist” or “conservative” but that is not the case at all! Modesty is more than those words! Moreover, modesty doesn’t only mean unattractive boring fashion. There are WAY too many options for a modest style now! Yes, it might not be the first thing you see when you go shopping elsewhere but it will surely be the only thing you see when you’re at our store!

Breakout Models

There are some truly inspiring and enchanting breakout models who we absolutely LOVE, we’re extremely fond of how some of them elegantly carry out modest outfits and rock these modest pieces.

Our absolute favorite is Mariah Idrissi, she was perceived during the ‘Close the Loop’ campaign that was held by H&M and soon after, she became one of the first model who wore the hijab! And look at her now, she is the chief model mainly for a modest style.

Next in line is, Halima Aden. She was one of the firsts to walk an international runway! She is also one of the very few who were a part of the London Modest Fashion Week.

There are many others upcoming and we're so proud of them. Find out a lot of similar fashion wear at our store, grab some amazing pieces and show the world that modestly is more than unattractive boring clothes!

Also, do make sure you Instagram or Subscribe to our YouTube Channel . And don't forget to tag us in your outfits using the '#myconcept' tag! We'd love to see our ladies all dressed up!

Until next time!
